We live in a world where health and wellness are becoming increasingly important. More and more people are focusing their attention on what they are putting in their bodies and how much they are moving around – but this isn’t easy for everyone. There are some people who love to exercise, while there are others who would prefer to just stay at home and chill out. Thankfully, there are exercises for those who don’t like to exercise, and Zumba is one of them.
What is Zumba?
Zumba is unlike any other exercise out there because it’s essentially just a whole load of people coming together and dancing their socks off. Of course, it’s a little different to a night on the town with your best friends, as Zumba is more structured and designed to get you moving as much as possible. The fitness program was first created by a Colombian dancer and choreographer in the 1990s, and over the past two decades, it has become a huge hit with people across the world. It focuses on allowing people to burn calories and get their body moving without having to head to the gym – and we don’t know what could be better than that.
Why is it so popular?
One of the main reasons why Zumba has proven to be so popular is because it offers an alternative to what’s considered “normal” workout routines. People don’t have to try and work out what to do in the gym, they don’t have to find the motivation to go for a run, and they don’t even have to leave the house if they don’t want to. While many sports centers and fitness clubs do run Zumba classes, there are also many online videos and DVDs that can teach you in the comfort of your own home. As if that wasn’t enough, it’s fun! Not many people can say that they are dancing and listening to music to lose weight, but that’s exactly what Zumba offers.
How easy is it to lose weight?
Many people have doubted Zumba over the years, and others have struggled to recognize it as a reputable way to lose weight. However, numerous studies have found that going to Zumba classes alongside eating healthily can drastically kickstart your weight-loss plans. In fact, depending on how hard you dance in the class, you could lose between 300 and 900 calories in one hour. It’s been suggested that taking part in these classes around three times a week and then incorporating one strength training session will allow you to lose a huge amount of weight – as long as you are abiding by the calorie deficit rule. Anyone can exercise as much as they want to and lose weight, but if you’re not eating correctly, then your achievements may be lost. By ensuring you are reaching a calorie deficit, you can enjoy Zumba to your heart’s content.
If you’ve always pushed the idea of Zumba to the side because you don’t think it works, then think again!
