If you’re the kind of person that struggles to keep your spirits up during the winter months, then it may be that you suffer from SAD. Cold temperatures and dark mornings and evenings can cause many people to develop Seasonal Affective Disorder, and it can often leave people feeling unusually tired, stressed, or demotivated. This can have a knock-on effect on your relationships and your work-life, so why not try and kick SAD where it hurts? If you’re feeling low, these beauty treatments will definitely boost your spirits.
Aquatic massage
Do you love a massage? Do you love the water? Well, what if we told you that you could mix these two things together? Often called Watsu, an aquatic massage will not only help you relax, but it will also help to inspire a boost of energy within you. It stretches your muscles, it helps to boost your lymphatic system, and it also helps to relieve any tension or stress you may have. While it does have to be performed by a professional, it’s definitely worth it.
Light therapy
One of the main reasons why people develop SAD and struggle with the symptoms is because the body craves natural sunlight. This is hard to come by when it’s dark and rainy, but that doesn’t mean that you have to give it up completely. Light therapy has become more and more popular over the years, as it increases the amount of serotonin your body produces. This allows you to feel more awake, and it can even improve your skin in the process. While you can seek out a therapist who specializes in light therapy, you can also buy your own SAD lamp for your home.
Aromatherapy
It can often feel impossible to keep the winter blues at bay, but it doesn’t have to be as hard as it may seem. Aromatherapy has many benefits throughout the year, but there’s no doubt about the fact that it’s particularly useful during the winter months. Essential oils, lotions, or aromatherapy oils can help calm you down and boost your mood due to the ingredients and the smells within the products. Different ingredients inspire different reactions, so make sure that you research what you want before you choose your product.
A bubble bath
Okay, so you don’t necessarily have to head to your local spa for this one, but who doesn’t love a bubble bath? The dark and dreary days can really have an effect on your mood and how you cope with stress, which is why you need to make sure that you are engaging in activities that make you happy. Bubble baths are the perfect way to unwind after a long day, and they are even better when you fill these baths with essential oils and other luxurious scents.
Although many people struggle to acknowledge when they are feeling lower than usual, it’s fair to say that many people go through the same thing during the winter months. This is why these beauty treatments will come in handy.
