4 Easy Ways to Improve Your Morning Routine

How you start your morning can govern how the rest of your day will pan out. So, it is important to start your day on the right foot with the right morning routine.

Kick your morning routine up a notch with these four-morning activities:

Have a Set Wake-Up Time

Getting enough sleep is key to a healthy lifestyle and getting a successful night’s sleep greatly relies on routine. As long as your routine remains consistent, it does not matter what that routine is. Set your alarm for the same time every day and stick to waking up then — even on weekends.

When you sleep in on the weekends, you can upset your body’s natural rhythm and cause you to start off the week with insomnia. Try your best not to snooze your alarm. Putting it on the other side of the room forces you to get out of bed and get your day started.

Warm Lemon Water

We know it may be difficult to start your day without your morning dose of caffeine, but if you have your sleeping routine under control, you will be able to ditch the morning coffee without a problem.

Replace your cuppa with a cup of warm lemon water instead. Lemon has become known as a very powerful ingredient for our bodies. Since it is antiseptic in nature, it has the ability to flush toxins from your body and helps your liver flush out any junk that may have accumulated overnight when it was cleaning the bloodstream. Besides that, lemon water helps to wake up your metabolism and assist digestion.

Pre-Prepare Your Breakfast

Who wants to do dishes first thing in the morning? Didn’t think so! With that said, starting your day with a wholesome breakfast is an absolute must and can have a domino effect on the rest of your day, keeping pesky cravings under control.

Try batch-cooking breakfasts that are high in protein and fiber and low in sugar to set the tone for your eating for the day. A wholesome breakfast can prevent the need for extra caffeine or unnecessary trips to the vending machine when you feel the mid-morning sugar low. Prepare meals ahead of time, such as overnight oats with whole fruits, chia pots or frittata bites with greens and herbs that you can bake ahead of time and reheat quickly in the morning.

Clear Your Mind

Instead of starting your morning in a frenzy, rushing out the door at the very last minute, take a slow and gentle start by carving out just 10 minutes to clear your mind. Spend these few minutes meditating, journaling or both. This will allow you to garner a sense of stability and calm that will spill over into your day.

Journaling is much simpler than you think. All you need to do is grab a notebook and write freehand whatever comes to mind in the time you have. Log anything that comes to mind, and that’s it. Journaling is an easy way to empty your mental attic before you properly start the day
